October

This month, we held a Sponsor Open House. Over the course of this Open House we gave a presentation to the sponsors about our team, we gave them a tour of our shop, and they drove our robot, Eurydice, from last season. We are also preparing for a local competition called MinneTrials, taking place on the 8th of December. MinneTrials is still a bit away, and the new build students are hard at work building the robot.

NoMythic participated in an annual one-day off-season competition called TWIST this year. At TWIST, every team is required to have a girls-only drive team. Our team ended up bringing an almost entirely female presenting group of students to this competition and since TWIST is a more laid back competition, students that don’t normally have the opportunity to work on our robot in the pit or participate in drive team got to explore new areas of robotics. Our team ended up with an entirely new drive team, yet we were still the 7th alliance captain and finished at a tie for fifth in the playoffs. We had a lot of fun, and we plan to participate again next year!

We have also been working on improving our robot cart! The robot cart is used to move our robot around during competitions, but since our robot is so heavy especially when adding the weight of batteries and other supplies, we have been working on an improved design so we can better maneuver at competition. However, the robot cart is not the only thing being worked on, since programming is also hard at work on a limelight system.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to our sponsor Improving IT for inviting our team to a screening of the third Venom movie! We had a great time!
