Updated 3/6/2022
Every year, FRC’s season culminates in a World Championships. Teams must win a spot at this event by being a winner of the event or winning certain awards. Our team has done that! The Engineering Inspiration award gives us a spot – and pays for our $5,000 entrance fee. We still have to get all the way to Houston, plus pay for hotel and food, but that’s a great bonus. Thank you NASA!

This link *will* have the competing schedule, spectator schedule, FIRST Championship Conferences schedule and more.
Travel
Since it is a VERY long bus trip to Houston, we hope to fly. We plan to leave VERY early on Wednesday morning, and arrive back home around 10 pm Monday – if those plane tickets are still available when we’re ready to book them.
Like Duluth, we’ll stay at a hotel in walking distance of the venue. We’ll be competing each day, ending in a very big closing ceremony on Saturday evening. The team will come up with cool things to do Sunday and Monday.
Lodging & Food
Like Duluth, we’ll stay at a hotel in walking distance of the venue – this one is about a 15 minute walk, with no blizzard conditions, icy sidewalks or snow along the way.
Fee
Students who go to the Championship will be expected to contribute $400 (always sliding scale – there MUST be a fee >$0) to the trip expenses. Plane tickets cost around $350, plus hotel, food, and other expenses. Students will help with fundraising efforts to make up the difference.
Academics
Students will need to do a grade check process again. Only sign up to attend if you believe that academically you can miss 4 days of school and still be passing all your classes.
